Although equity fund flows suggest that among Emerging Asian fund groups the final quarter of 2025 became a race between funds dedicated to China and Korea, the full-year picture tells a different story.
India, despite seeing its average weighting among the diversified Global Emerging Markets (GEM) Equity Funds fall to a 28-month low as managers shifted exposure to regional markets with more compelling artificial intelligence stories, saw the biggest flows from all EPFR-tracked Equity Funds over the year.
With an election behind it and reforms in the pipeline, Korea Equity Funds enjoyed a strong run. But 2025 was a difficult year for smaller regional equity markets, with flows largely bypassing Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia.
